WEBAug 15, 2024 · It's not the old units, it's iPads in general. Don't assume 80% battery health means 80% battery life compared to when it was new. My 10.5 lasts 3-4 hours. I tried to have Apple replace the battery (= swap with a refurbished unit, no other option), and the tested it and said it had 87% battery health, does not qualify.

Calling the local Apple authorized store says no to qualifying for a replacement from Apple so who do we like for a 3rd party service to replace the battery? Thanks!

WEBApr 20, 2024 · No. I asked. Answer is still no even if you pay for it. They used to during the iOS 10 battery replacement fiasco but no more. Battery health has to be below 80% before they’ll replace it. I recently had mine replaced in my 13 Pro at about 85%. I'm in the US but there was no hassle about paying Apple to replace it.

The battery rate replacement (which will be a whole iPad not just a battery) is around $79-99 plus tax.
