With certain devices, such as a base MacBook Air, a base iPad, or even possibly the least-expensive iPad Air, adding Apple Care completely destroys the value proposition of the product.

WEBJun 21, 2024 · Yes 100% get it. The M4 iPad is super thin and repairs are outrageous. A $29 screen repair + the $149 for the AppleCare is far cheaper than the $599+ for an out of warranty repair, even if you just broke it once you saved hundreds of dollars. And it covers the Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard, or Apple folio so thats a plus.

WEBJun 27, 2020 · Apple replaced the iPad with no questions asked. I attached the (two-year) AppleCare+ agreement to my 12.9” iPad Pro pre-order. The iPhone is the only Apple product I opt to do the monthly AppleCare+ on rather than the upfront agreement since I upgrade my iPhone with every cycle unlike my other Apple products.

I actually just did this a few days ago for my M4 11” iPad Pro and my new Magic Keyboard - it was very straightforward, but you can only do it over the phone unfortunately.
