According to their website (nps.gov/thrb/planyourvisit/hours) they should be open on New Year's Day: "Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace NHS is open Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. The site is closed on the following designated federal holidays: Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day." Personally the tour was the highlight of the trip so it wouldn't deter me from a visit. Hope that helps! Enjoy your visit!
