Voting in Katmai National Park's famed Fat Bear Week was underway Wednesday after a bear killed one of this year's competitors and delayed the bracket reveal by a day.

Alaska’s annual Fat Bear Week contest got off to a delayed start because a female participant known as Bear 402 was killed by a male during a livestreamed fight.

Fat Bear Week, the annual contest that celebrates feeding season at Katmai National Park in Alaska, began as a one-day experiment for park rangers to engage with visitors. It has spiraled into an annual weeklong competition with a March Madness-like bracket and mentality.
