LEAKESVILLE, MS - (WTVA) The Mississippi Department of Corrections captured an escaped inmate in South Mississippi. Prison leaders say Drew Johnson escaped from the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Leakesville on Christmas Eve.

According to an alert sent out by the Greene County Emergency Management office, 33-year-old Drew Johnson escaped from the South Mississippi Correctional Institution around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Mississippi Department of Corrections announced that Johnson had been captured on Wednesday near the area of SMCI.
