The Assembly approved a bill backed by Gov. Newsom aimed at preventing gas prices from spiking, particularly in late the summer when demand rises.

Senate President pro Tem Mike McGuire previously said his chamber “won’t be convening in a special session this fall.”

Assembly Bill X2-1 would require oil refineries to maintain additional inventory that they can draw from during maintenance periods to sustain a steady supply.
