Rockdale chemical plume: Shelter-in-place recommended for nighttime hours
Rockdale County is asking residents once again to shelter-in-place due to a plume banking down in the county. The new alert comes hours after the county had lifted a previous shelter-in-place order for a fire that broke out at the Biolab chemical plant on Sunday.

A plume of smoke continues to rise from chemical reactions in the burned sections of the plant, but the fire itself was extinguished on Sunday. The current plume is significantly smaller than the one seen over the weekend, which cast a shadow over much of the community.
