Russia and Ukraine have different views of the attack's success. Either way, this use of the missiles could mark a significant escalation in the war.

Ukraine fired U.S.-made long-range missiles inside of Russia on Tuesday for the first time since a restriction was lifted by Washington, according to Russian officials. The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a Telegram post that a facility was struck in the Russian region of Bryansk with the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) long-range missiles.

The attack comes two days after it was reported that the Biden administration had lifted restrictions on the use of the missiles against targets inside Russia.
