Mitsubishi President Takao Kato is considering joining the business integration talks between Honda and Nissan.

Under the proposed plan, Mitsubishi has until the end of January 2025 to decide whether or not to be part of the cooperation between Nissan and Honda. Given Mitsubishi’s close ties to Nissan, it could also gain technological and pricing advantages by joining this alliance.

Japanese automakers Nissan and Honda have announced plans for a merger that would catapult them to a top position in an industry that's in flux as it transitions away from its reliance on fossil fuels.
