Through a combination of bigger batteries and greater efficiency, Apple has drastically improved iPhone battery life over the years.

Tom’s Guide ranked the best smartphones according to their battery lives and it was found that iPhone models have the best battery lives. The battery life was calculated by a standard that required a smartphone to last more than 14 hours with browsing on 5G and having a brightness of 150 nits.

It's not surprising that the largest smartphones by the likes of Apple and Samsung have the longest battery lives, because they have the biggest batteries — but new testing shows that the iPhone 16 Pro Max beats them all.

The Galaxy S24 lineup also improved its performance on our battery test by 35%, helped out by the fact that all three new models lasted at least 3 hours longer than their Galaxy S23 equivalents. The OnePlus 12 lasted 29% longer than the OnePlus 11, while the iPhone 16 lineup posted a 21% gain over the iPhone 15 lineup's results.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max was working just fine when I decided to upgrade to the latest model. The 13 Pro Max still feels fast, takes excellent photos, and easily lasts all day on a full charge even at 88% battery health.

As for Apple’s main high-end phone competition, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra fell well short of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, clocking 16 hours and 45 minutes of battery life, despite
