According to the National Hurricane Center’s 10 pm Tuesday advisory, Kirk found new strength and has evolved from a tropical storm into a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour. Category 1 Hurricane Kirk is 1115 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, with maximum sustained wind of 75 mph. It’s moving 13 mph to the northwest.

Currently 1,070 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, Kirk has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and a minimum central pressure of 986 mb. According to the NHC, Kirk is currently moving west-northwest at 12 mph — and getting stronger.
