An Israeli strike on a building in a densely populated district of Beirut on Sunday killed Hezbollah's media relations chief Mohammad Afif, two Lebanese security sources told Reuters, though there was no immediate confirmation from Hezbollah.

The attack came as Israel’s military has been pounding an area just outside the Lebanese capital with some of the heaviest waves of bombardment in months.

An official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media, said Mohammed Afif was killed in the strike on Sunday.
