Lyft will no longer operate its scooter rideshares in D.C. as of Tuesday. Why it matters: While this means one less way for Washingtonians to get around sans four wheels, there are still plenty of other options for two-wheeled rides.

Lyft announced that it would be stopping some services in D.C. this October. In a news release published at the beginning of, Lyft outlined its future plans for bikes, e-bikes, scooters and more. The release said that Lyft is discontinuing its dockless scooters in the District.

After a six-year ride, Lyft is hitting the brakes on its electric scooters in Washington, D.C., officially pulling the plug on the service starting next month.
