An earthquake measuring 4.2 in magnitude struck central California early Sunday morning, according to reports from the United States Geological Surve

Californians asleep at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday were rattled awake by a magnitude 4.2 earthquake centered near the Central Coast.

Some Northern California residents woke up to 3.6 magnitude earthquake Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey. USGS said the earthquake struck around 8:30 a.m. in Walker. The area is about 100 miles east of Sacramento and 37 miles southeast from South Lake Tahoe.

AROMAS, Calif. (AP) — An earthquake registering magnitude 4.2 shook part of central California early Sunday, the United States Geological Survey reported. The earthquake was detected at 2:47 a.m. local time about 2 miles northwest of Aromas with a depth of 4.59 miles, the science agency said on its website and in a social media post.
